Empowering Students Through Technology
Thanks to a generous grant aimed at improving our computer lab infrastructure, our technology program has made incredible strides this year. We now have two fully equipped and fully functioning computer labs.
A Family’s Determination: Judy, Raul, and the Dream of Education
Judy and her husband Raul live in a modest home in Libertador Bolívar, a small town about 20 minutes by bus from Santa Maria del Fiat, or the Mission School. Together, they’re raising four children and building a life centered on love, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to their children’s education.
The School Year Begins—with 1,250 Reasons to Hope
On May 12th, a new school year began at Santa Maria del Fiat, our beloved Mission School. Over 1,250 students in pre-k through senior year of high school are now engaged in our English program, receiving computer classes, and filling their minds with fundamental lessons to serve them for years to come.
Nursing Students Bring Health Education to the Mission
As we prepare to begin a new school year next week, we wanted to share one last amazing memory from summer vacation at the Mission. In March, we welcomed a group of nursing students and professors in partnership with Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (my alma mater – Grace 😊).

Ecuador High-School Soccer Champions!
The Mission School soccer team achieved a historic victory this year, clinching the Campeonato Nacional (National Championship) and proudly becoming the high-school soccer champions of Ecuador!
Teacher Spotlight: Meet Professor Roddy!
Professor Roddy has been an English teacher at the mission school for 8 years. Historically, he taught in upper primary school (grades 4-7), but this year he accepted the challenge of bringing English to our littlest learners. He is leading our English program for kindergarten, first and second grades and is doing an exceptional job at it. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Roddy to ask him about his teaching experience and why he thinks the English language is so important to his students. Here is what he shared:
