Thanks to a generous grant aimed at improving our computer lab infrastructure, our technology program has made incredible strides this year. We now have two fully equipped and fully functioning computer labs. One is a traditional desktop lab, now outfitted with a modern projector system, more desktop computers, and new tables to accommodate our growing class sizes. The second is a fully mobile tech lab, consisting of 40 laptops that can travel with one of our two dedicated technology teachers between classrooms.
- Our mobile tech lab uses laptop computers to bring technology class right to the students.
- In our permanent technology lab, new tables help more students access technology learning. These tables now host new desktop computers so that more students can participate at the same time.
But our progress goes beyond equipment upgrades. This school year, our technology department introduced a new curriculum shaped by input from U.S.-based professionals in the information technology field. Students are no longer just learning essential computer skills—like typing, using word processors and spreadsheets, managing files and folders, and navigating the internet—they’re also being taught how to adapt to emerging technologies, with a special focus on artificial intelligence.
With technology evolving at a rapid pace, we are committed to preparing our students at the Mission School to thrive in the digital world.
- Prof Sara, one of our technology teachers, helps students navigate AI tools as part of the updated technology curriculum.
- Prof Diego has been instrumental in advocating for, researching, and implementing our updated curriculum this year.
Veronica, a ninth grader at the Mission School, shared that she’s already putting her new skills to use. She recently helped her mother improve their family’s hostel business by designing a brand-new logo—a small example of how the tools and knowledge gained in the classroom are already making a real-world impact.
- Veronica, right, used her newly acquired technology skills to help her mom with their small business.
- Excited to get started! Students have had extremely positive responses to the new technology classes.
