6 Weeks to Change Lives: Aiming to raise $100,000 between April 11 – May 16
The Reason
Julia and her sister have always been model students at the mission school. When the coronavirus pandemic started, their mother lost her job. Their mother fell further and further behind in tuition payments until it seemed that her only option was to take Julia out of high school. At the peak of the COVID-19 crisis, it is estimated that 1.9 billion learners were out of school. From past crises, we know that the longer children are out of school, the harder it is for them to return. It is estimated that up to 10 million children worldwide may never return to school. But thanks to our scholarship program, Julia will not be one of those children. Julia and her sister were offered scholarships to continue attending the mission school last June. They don’t have access to the internet, but they were able to continue learning from home using the packeted materials the school provided every week. And Julia is eager to return to the classroom this year.
Over the next six weeks we will try to raise $100,000 to expand our education projects in Ecuador and help keep children like Julia in school. Join us in our Education Changes Everything Campaign!
We are currently on summer break in Ecuador, so when classes start back up we hope we have good news for the students at our school.
The Details
This campaign will allow us to purchase desks for the school, send students to university, fund additional scholarships for families who lost their incomes during the pandemic, and purchase school supplies for these children. If we exceed our goal, we will use it to remodel classrooms so our students can fit inside them!
Over the next six weeks you will hear how your generosity has been helping these children and how this campaign will improve these children’s chances to escape poverty. Follow along with our updates here.
