Our Christmas Wish List

Would you consider adding Mission Santa Maria to your Christmas list? Our goal is to raise $200,000 by January 1st to meet the growing needs of the children in our programs. During this season, here is what we need most to continue to best serve them. Thank you for your generosity!

-Christmas meal for a scholarship PLUS family $50/family
Our scholarship plus program identifies the students from the poorest families at the Mission School. These students receive comprehensive scholarships including tuition, transportation, school supplies, and food assistance so they don’t go hungry. We would like to give this group of families extra food this month to celebrate the holidays.

-School supplies for one year for student on scholarship $100/student
Any parent or teacher knows the physical materials required to get a child through the school year. Help equip a student in our scholarship program with all the supplies necessary for learning and success. This includes all school supplies, textbooks, and uniforms required for the school year.

-Scholarship for one year for a family in need $250/student
Help a child living in extreme poverty access high quality education through our scholarship program. We currently have 260 students receiving scholarships, and given the current difficulties facing Ecuador, we want to be equipped to increase this number as needs arise.

-20 new computers for our technology program $800/computer
Our technology program has expanded exponentially over the past 2 years but students often still have to share computers in class. Help us build on this momentum by purchasing more computers for the lab.

-Salary of part time tutor at Mission Home for one year $2,500
Many children at the Mission Home arrive having experienced interrupted education and are often several years behind their peers. Support a part time tutor at the Mission Home specifically to assist these children and help attain their educational goals. Often, after time in our tutor program, children are able to enter the Mission School and rejoin their peers in the classroom.

-Rent an apartment for 4 girls entering our DP World shipping program for one year $5,000/year
We are so excited that the second wave of young adults will soon begin their journey in our two-year work study program. Help us rent them a safe apartment close to the shipping port where they will be learning and working as they pursue this once in a lifetime opportunity.

-Salary of English teacher at Mission School for one year $6,000
Our English program is a comprehensive approach to improving the quality of education at the Mission School. One of the pillars of our program is decreasing class sizes to give students a better chance to practice and utilize the language skills they learn in class. Help us keep class sizes smaller by supporting the salary of one English teacher for a year.
